Sarah Hayes is the wife of James Hayes and the former best friend of Kate Willis. She is also a main antagonist in the second season.
Sarah is heavily pregnant when she discovered that Kate is back. Three of them try to talk it out and James asks Sarah to protect Kate and hide her. Once they try to find hideaway Kate reveals that her and James slept together, Sarah kicks her out of the car and drives off. She reports burglary at her house and gives police Kate's bike reg number. Chris stopped Kate and discover the truth.
Sarah have birth to hers and James daughter Nia and dies during childbirth but doctors believe they brang her back to life. She act like nothing changed until Phil contacts her and they plan to kill all of the risen.
Phil says that she failing her task and she promised him to fulfill it. Later she shot Paddy who's walking with Beau towards the Corona Hill with a gun she took from police station.
She comes back to the station to let Phil out of the prison cell and takes Nia with them to the lake house to find the rest Charlie, Kate and Kirsten who went to norgard for safety. James discovers what she has done and called her to confront her about it, Sarah admits everything and try to convince him that she's still his wife, he responds with anger and told her that she should have died then. Sarah cries and decides to place Nia at the hospital with Ellen for James to pick up.
Sarah and Phil goes to the facility and chase after the risen to kill them but they manage to escape with a company car driven by Kirsty so Phil and Sarah follows them to the cemetery.
Sarah hold her gun on Kate when James arrives and stands between them both protecting Kate, Phil attacks him and order Sarah to shoot Kate but she shot Phil on the leg instead so Phil kills Sarah with his handgun. Kate runs to get crying but she doesn't wake up this time.
She and James also have a daughter together, Nia Hayes.
